Screen Captures From 'Labyrinth'
Tue January 30th 2007 @ 8:18PM - James - Tom Welling - 5 Comments
I'm sorry that I took so long to post these - I spent the weekend tucked up with a hot water bottle, and was given strict orders not to move!
Still, hopefully this is better late than never. Tom was in practically every scene of 'Labyrinth', his performance was incredible, and here for your viewing pleasure are (I couldn't believe the number) 999 screen captures from the episode.
Some 'Crimson' Stills
Wed January 24th 2007 @ 2:15AM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment
The CW Network has just released a handful of new Smallville stills featuring Tom Welling, from episode #6.13, 'Crimson', which airs on February 1st.
The images feature Clark with an attitude that I particularly enjoy watching, although I can't say that I would enjoy being around him while he's behaving that way! As usual, there are spoilers in the stills, so don't view them if you wish to stay in the dark about this episode.
I'm under the weather again (I must be cursed, because if it's not one thing keeping me away from this site, it's another - there always seems to be something!) so I apologise for the lack of updates since the weekend. If I owe you an e-mail or should have contacted you about anything, I hope to get around to that soon.
'Justice' Screen Captures
Fri January 19th 2007 @ 12:53PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
I haven't had a chance to watch 'Justice' properly yet, but from what I saw while I was capping it, this was another fantastic episode of Smallville. Despite the huge number of guest stars who appeared in this episode, Tom was still featured in most of the scenes, so there are 571 screen caps this week.
Trailer For 'Labyrinth'
Fri January 19th 2007 @ 9:06AM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment
I'm sorry that I didn't post anything about 'Justice' yesterday, particularly as it was "Smallville Day". Unfortunately some things are unavoidable, and as most people in the UK and Europe will be all too aware, Mother Nature gave us all a walloping throughout the late morning and afternoon. The area where I live had intermittent power all night after some power lines were blown down ... still, I'm here now.
Now I get, as always, to giving huge thanks to Steve for once again passing along the trailer for next week's episode, which in this case is the weird and dreamlike 'Labyrinth'. This episode looks like it could potentially be up there with last season's 'Splinter' on my favourite episodes list, but it also has the potential to be utterly terrible if things don't play out as planned; as ever with Smallville, we'll just have to wait and see!
Since I didn't get around to this yesterday, if you would like to discuss 'Justice', please head over to the forum.
First 12 Minutes of 'Justice'
Wed January 17th 2007 @ 11:01PM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment
As I noted they would earlier today, Yahoo! TV has now posted a preview of the first 12 minutes of 'Justice', which airs tomorrow on the CW Network.
The clip features all of the usual suspects, particularly Clark Kent, aka Tom Welling, who goes from bewildered, to grouchy, to almost ecstatically happy in the space of about two minutes during the pre-credits sequence. Why he's behaving that way is something I'll let you see for yourself - enjoy!
New 'Justice' Trailer & Information
Wed January 17th 2007 @ 9:21AM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment
With thanks, as always, to Steve, here's another very short trailer for 'Justice', which airs tomorrow on the CW Network.
In addition, Yahoo! TV seems to be going all out in its promotion of 'Justice'. As well as their current Heroes & Villains of Smallville feature, according to KryptonSite, later today Yahoo will also have a 12-minute (yes, you did read that correctly) exclusive preview of the episode!
I've had some very minor e-mail and connection problems since the weekend, which appear to now be fixed, so look for more updates fairly soon - I hope, assuming nothing breaks again.

Screen Caps From 'Hydro' & Short Review
Fri January 12th 2007 @ 9:31AM - James - Tom Welling - 3 Comments
As much as I was looking forward to seeing how well Tom did with the directing on 'Hydro', I have to be honest and say that I wasn't really looking forward to yet another "freak" episode, with a just-about-passable guest star in Tori Spelling. Thankfully that particular plotline took a somewhat back seat, and was over by around three-quarters of the way into the episode, so I could almost ignore it.
I enjoyed everything else immensely.
Continuation of the Clark, Lex and Lana dynamic in a manner that somehow, unlike in previous episodes, didn't bore me to tears. Perhaps it was a combination of Tom being able to get the best out of everyone involved, and also having the wherewithal to incorporate some explosive Clark and Lex interaction, which has been sorely lacking as of late. Whatever it was, I enjoyed the final result. If only I could be sure that this solid foundation will actually lead somewhere this time.
Clark, Oliver, Lois and Chloe. Absurd to the extreme, but with a combination of proven comic-timing from Allison Mack and Tom Welling, and hilarious, borderline psychotic attempts at ironic detachment from an in-character Erica Durance. This sub plot was my favourite part of the episode by a wide margin, and I can only cross my fingers and hope that this, too, will lead to some intriguing episodes in the future.
Where last year's 'Fragile' was a comparatively "throw-away" episode, 'Hydro' has opened, and continued, a number of very important plotlines, which speak volumes about the trust in Tom this time around. With one or two minor exceptions (do I really need to see up an actor's nostril?) the directing did justice to a tight script. If it hadn't been for the watergirl subplot, I think I would have really, really enjoyed this episode. As it is, I still felt that 'Hydro' was one of the better efforts this season - thanks to both the writing and the directing, just in case my not insignificant bias is showing.
Trailer For 'Justice'
Fri January 12th 2007 @ 2:45AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
As always, with big thanks to Steve, here is the trailer for next Thursday's super-special episode of Smallville, 'Justice'. The trailer doesn't include much that hasn't been shown in previous trailers, but it's still great!
And of course, I don't have to remind anyone that this trailer aired following this week's episode, 'Hydro'. Did you love it? Did you hate it? Discuss!
'Hydro' Airs Tonight
Thu January 11th 2007 @ 5:12PM - James - Tom Welling - 6 Comments
Finally, after a few long months of waiting, Tom's second effort in the director's chair will air tonight on the CW Network.
When 'Fragile' aired last year, I called Tom, "Orson Welling". Some people liked it, many didn't care, and others thought I was being a nincompoop. This year I have to do better - and I don't think I can, because all I can come up with is Tom Waterworld. That sets a terrible precedent thanks to the horrible movie of the same name; and a good precedent because it's the name of the Judging Amy episode prior to Tom's debut. Mixed precedents are never good, so I'll stick with Orson Welling and hope nobody minds.
So, to the episode: 'Hydro'. There are stills. There is an official description. There are trailers. And there are clips. What more could anyone possibly want? Perhaps a place to discuss the episode, which you can find over on the forum or down in the comments.
There are a few more hours to go before the episode airs, so I'll just have to wait patiently in the meantime. Maybe take a bath ...
Two 'Hydro' Clips
Thu January 11th 2007 @ 8:59AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
Two clips featuring Tom Welling from tonight's brand new episode of Smallville, 'Hydro', (which was directed by Tom, in case it has somehow slipped anyone's attention) are now available at Yahoo! TV. It's quite difficult to find the videos on the site, so to make things easier, here are the direct links:
Two New 'Fragile' Images
Wed January 10th 2007 @ 11:51PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
With big thanks to Jana and Jen, I've now got two more behind-the-scenes stills from Tom's debut directorial effort, 'Fragile', which was filmed almost one year ago.
The first of the two new images is my personal favourite, although it does make Tom look slightly lazy, lounging around instead of, you know, directing ... I kid. With that schedule, he needed a break.
Stills From 'Labyrinth'
Tue January 9th 2007 @ 11:04AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
The CW Network has just released a handful of new Smallville stills featuring Tom Welling, from episode #6.12, 'Labyrinth', which airs on January 25th.
While a number of the images aren't especially spoilery, and a couple are incredibly of the cute and fluffy variety (Shelby!), there are unfortunately – or fortunately, depending on your point of view – some spoilers in many of the images. So avoid viewing these if you don't want to know what happens in this episode!
'Hydro' Director's Cut & More
Fri January 5th 2007 @ 11:46PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
Over at the CW Video Hub, in the "Director's Cut" section, a new rough-cut clip has been posted from next Thursday's Smallville episode, 'Hydro'. The clip features Tom Welling, Allison Mack, and Tori Spelling. As always, for those who would like to download a personal copy of the clip, here it is.
Meanwhile, BuddyTV has included Tom on their current Hot List:
His cosmic appeal certainly caught my attention - hence the existence of this website. Tom's clearly doing something right! As Clark Kent on Smallville, [Tom Welling] allures viewers with his gorgeous looks and boy-next-door image. What makes up the young Superman? Enormous magnetism, a dash of talent and a generous amount of charisma comprises Tom. His natural cosmic appeal is a certified attention grabber.
Trailer For 'Hydro'
Fri January 5th 2007 @ 3:50AM - James - Tom Welling - 5 Comments
With enormous thanks to Steve, who has managed to upload these trailers despite having a slow 'net connection at the moment, here are two Smallville trailers that were shown on Thursday night on the CW Network.
The first trailer is unquestionably for 'Hydro', Tom's second effort in the director's chair, which airs next Thursday, January 11th, and features some great scenes, including one from which I posted a few stills last month.
I'm not completely sure which episode the second trailer is for, but it is, nonetheless, either great or horrific depending on your personal opinion. Me? I've got a fence wedged somewhere uncomfortable on this issue ...
If you enjoy these trailers please thank Steve down in the comments, as he really went above and beyond what I could have hoped for this week.
Stills From 'Justice'
Wed January 3rd 2007 @ 5:23AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
Quite appropriately given the title of the Smallville episode from which some stills have just been released ('Justice', which airs on January 18th), I'm a little late in posting them thanks to some kindness of my own towards my neighbour's poorly kitty. But I suppose that's apropos only in a slightly abstract way ...
Back to the point, the new stills are fantastic; one particular image features all five members of Smallville's nascent 'Justice' League, together with Chloe, in the midst of plotting - well, something or other. Featured in the images are Tom Welling, Allison Mack, Justin Hartley, Alan Ritchson, Kyle Gallner, and Lee Thompson Young. I hope I spelt those right, and didn't miss anyone.
Allison Mack Talks Tom
Tue January 2nd 2007 @ 9:53PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 2 Comments
During the filming of the upcoming episode 'Crimson', Allison Mack took time to chat with Comics Continuum. The interview has been published in two parts, and although Tom Welling isn't mentioned specifically in the first part, the writer does include a very juicy spoiler for all the Red Kryptonite-infected Clark fans out there.
However, it's the second part of the interview which might be of more interest to Tom Welling fans. In it, Allison had some very nice things to say about Tom:
Tom is an amazing man in that he's like a sponge. And he loves to learn. And he loves filmmaking, all aspects of it. So from the first day that he walked on set, he was so humble about everything and so excited to try things on and take people's advice. There was no pride. There was no ego. Beautiful.
And because of that he's learned at a rapid pace. It's really incredible. This year, directing, he was fabulous.
Happy New Year!
Mon January 1st 2007 @ 1:26AM - James - Tom Welling - 6 Comments
I would like to personally wish each and every one of you a very happy and healthy start to 2007!
Aside from the many changes and (I hope) improvements that I have planned for TomWelling.org over the coming months, 2007 should prove to be a particularly great year for three very special reasons:
- In April, Tom will be celebrating what I can barely believe will be his 30th birthday!
- In May, TomWelling.org will have been online for what have been, to me, at least, five incredible years!
- In July, Tom and Jamie will be celebrating their 5th Wedding Anniversary!
