TV Guide's TV Heroes

Thu December 28th 2006 @ 1:23PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

Thanks to Steve, here's a little Holiday goodie from TV Guide - Tom's segment on the recent TV Heroes special. As seems to be standard for TV Guide, there are plenty of great behind-the-scenes clips and interviews, although most of the interviews are now fairly old.

Still, one of my personal favourite interviews is featured as the penultimate clip. It's those legs again.

Caption This: Mk 2.0 Winner

Mon December 25th 2006 @ 11:56AM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment

I very nearly forgot to post the winner of this year's Caption This game, due in part to the constriction of my head by too many party hats, but I've just managed to squeeze it in before midnight! My personal best is wearing twelve party hats at once, by the way; nobody else ever wants to wear one in my house, so I wear them all. Looking ridiculous is nothing new for me ...

So, to the winner of Caption This: Mk 2.0 - or more accurately, the winners, since there were two that I particularly liked.

And the winners are [drum roll]:

"STELLAAAAAAAAA!!! STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" ~ Rose

I assumed this was in reference to the inimitable Marlon Brando in A Streetcar Named Desire (Rose is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong), and it's a winner because it's simply a classic line that fits the photo perfectly. Besides, Tiger yelled it out in Over the Hedge, and cats are cool.

"Come on, turn green! I've been the Hulk before!" ~ Jesse

This made me smile for quite possibly all the wrong reasons. Clark is occasionally a little dense, and the visual of him saying a line like this caused me to choke a little. I'm completely unapologetic about crowning this as a winner purely because it made me guffaw like a lunatic.

If you'd like to choose your own personal favourite, please do so in the comments. I'd really like to hear what everyone else thought about some of the great entries this year.

Hopefully the slightly belated nature of this won't dull the sentiment: I would like to give everyone my very best wishes for the Holidays and the New Year!

New General Smallville Trailer

Fri December 22nd 2006 @ 4:45AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

Despite lacking any great new shots from upcoming episodes, the latest general Smallville trailer, which aired following Thursday's repeat of 'Reunion', is nonetheless a great taster of what to expect from the show in the new year. It's always nice when the editing and narrative of a trailer paint a great picture, rather than just making a mess.

Big thanks, as always, to Steve for passing along the clip!

Official 'Hydro' Description

Wed December 20th 2006 @ 2:23AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

Over at KryptonSite, Craig has posted the CW's official description for 'Hydro', the new episode of Smallville scheduled to air on January 11th, 2007. I don't usually post about episode descriptions, but I just can't help myself when the final line includes "episode directed by Tom Welling".

I can't wait to see how well Tom did with this episode.

Vote Tom In TV.com's Best Of 2006

Mon December 18th 2006 @ 6:04AM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment

Like they did last year, TV.com is once again holding an end-of-year "Best Of" poll; and also like last year, Tom Welling is one of the choices in the Hottest Actor category, against David Boreanaz, Matthew Fox, Wentworth Miller, and Jeremy Piven. There's absolutely no pressure, but, umm ... vote for Tom and make sure he wins like he did in 2005! Also up for an award is Smallville, in the Best Science-Fiction category, and maybe you'd like to vote for that as well.

In addition, Tom is featured briefly on the TV Guide Channel's TV Heroes special, which will be repeated on December 18th at 2:00pm, December 20th at 10:00pm, December 21st at 1:00am and 3:00pm, and December 23rd at 12:00pm. If you can pass along a clip of Tom's segment, please get in touch.

Caption This: Mk 2.0

Sun December 17th 2006 @ 9:01PM - James - Tom Welling - 28 Comments

Once again it's been crazy quiet this week, news-wise. That's not so surprising considering it's the holiday season, but it stills makes for a pretty boring day. So to keep everyone (or at least some of you) occupied for a little while, it's time for what seems to be becoming an annual thing here at TomWelling.org: Caption This!

The rules are simple: all you have to do is write a funny, clever, or downright stupid caption for the picture that I've posted. The choice is yours, just try to keep the captions PG-13.

Just like last year, I'm going to be a bit of a spoil sport, so I'm banning all captions that refer to taking clothes off in a phone booth, rather than putting them on ... I do like to make things slightly more difficult! The contest will be open for about ten days, give or take, and the winning caption – as chosen by me – will be announced somewhere around the 25th of December.

Please leave your captions down in the comments; up to three captions are allowed per person. If your caption doesn't show up right away, don't worry, it'll appear within a few hours.

More 'Hydro' Stills

Mon December 11th 2006 @ 3:43PM - James - Tom Welling - 6 Comments

It seems I didn't quite post all of the 'Hydro' stills last week - so I'm making up for that by doing it now! Without further wittering from yours truly, here are six more 'Hydro' Stills, including one solo (and very dark) shot of Tom. Just as before, the stills feature Tom Welling, Erica Durance, and Justin Hartley, and they all contain some big spoilers for the episode.

As with the previous images, if you would like to share these please link back to TomWelling.org rather than reposting them.

Stars Of The CW In Music Video

Mon December 11th 2006 @ 3:20PM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment

Over at the CW Video Hub, many of the CW Network's stars – including Tom Welling and the cast of Smallville – are featured in a new music video for 'Everybody Wants You' by Damone. The video can be found in the "Videos A-Z" section.

There are quite a few new clips of Tom in the video, so it's well worth watching if you can stand the song; which I couldn't, so I turned the audio off. Very effective.

I've also saved a downloadable copy of the video, so if you want to keep it you can get that here.

'Subterranean' Screen Captures

Fri December 8th 2006 @ 6:29PM - James - Tom Welling - 3 Comments

Now this was much more like it. Granted, 'Subterranean' was only a so-so episode as far as the plotline goes, but I can almost forgive and forget that when Tom is featured so heavily. Here are a much more healthy 657 screen captures of Tom Welling from last night's Smallville.

This episode was originally filmed as the fifth episode of this season, but for one reason or another it was held back until now. That becomes all the more obvious when you notice that it was clearly a little (or a lot) warmer when the episode was shot, which results in there being plenty of Tom in just a t-shirt, without any trace of plaid. No complaints about that from me.

Upcoming Episodes Preview

Fri December 8th 2006 @ 12:29PM - James - Tom Welling - 4 Comments

I'm really not sure what to say about the new Smallville preview trailer that aired last night, following 'Subterranean'. The only word that's springing to mind is: WOW!

Although the first half of the trailer is fairly standard Smallville fare, the second half really turns things up a notch, with some incredible shots of Clark and a few other old friends from 'Justice', which is scheduled to air on January 18th. I can't wait to see what Tom did with 'Hydro', but after seeing this trailer I really can't wait for 'Justice'.

So without further ado, here's the trailer. Huge thanks, as always, go to Steve!

Tonight on Smallville: 'Subterranean'

Thu December 7th 2006 @ 8:17PM - James - Tom Welling - 2 Comments

Tonight the CW will be airing the final new episode of Smallville until January 11th, 2007 (confirmed air date for 'Hydro' courtesy of KryptonSite), 'Subterranean'. Unfortunately there are no official stills from tonight's episode, at least so far, but thanks to Steve there is a trailer for the episode.

As always, when the episode is over you can discuss it over on the forum or down in the comments.

Smallville Cast to Attend 2007 Jules Verne Festival

Mon December 4th 2006 @ 2:12PM - James - Tom Welling - 2 Comments

According to the website for the Jules Verne Festival, John Glover will be given a special award in celebration of his long career – effectively a Lifetime Achievement award in all but name – at next year's event, which will be held at the Grand Rex Theatre in Paris on April 20th.

The press release also mentions that there will be a number of other Smallville-related events and surprises throughout the weeklong festival. Perhaps most excitingly, the press release goes on to note:

To celebrate the event [with John Glover], Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk, Erica Durance, Michael Rosembaum and Allison Mack are scheduled to appear.

While this doesn't guarantee that Tom will appear in person (when Smallville was honoured at the festival in 2005, Tom appeared by satellite), it's nonetheless another exciting event for Tom's French fans. Now I just have to wait patiently for something good to happen in the UK ...

Thanks to Serene for the link!

Better Quality Judging Amy Caps

Sun December 3rd 2006 @ 7:58PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

I've been meaning to post better quality screen captures from Tom's appearances on Judging Amy for months, and finally I've actually got around to doing it. The only bad point about the new caps is that the originals were from a channel that didn't place any logos on the screen, whereas the new captures have a rather obtrusive "Hallmark Channel" in the top left corner ...

I still love looking at these, even after almost six years; and Tom was so young!

First 'Hydro' Stills

Sun December 3rd 2006 @ 9:24AM - James - Tom Welling - 5 Comments

Well, here they are: the first stills from Tom's second directorial effort, 'Hydro'. The stills feature Tom Welling, Erica Durance, and Justin Hartley, in a scene that has been given quite in-depth coverage by Michael Ausiello over at TV Guide. Don't view these if you want to avoid being spoiled - you've been warned!

If you would like to share these images, I would appreciate it if you could link back to TomWelling.org rather than reposting them.

More Stills From 'Static'

Sun December 3rd 2006 @ 8:37AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

Warner Bros. has just released another handful of images from the most recent new Smallville episode, 'Static' which aired on November 16th.

The images feature Tom Welling and guest star Batista, and they're all from the same scene as the previous stills. I guess variation on a theme is rarely a bad thing.

Bid For Tom's Bike

Sun December 3rd 2006 @ 8:10AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

According to Craig at KryptonSite, a fantastic new item has been added to John Glover's Alzheimer's Association auction: one of Tom Welling's bikes!

This is an absolutely incredible item, and if I hadn't just bought a new bike (not quite so curvy, but I like it) I would be very tempted to bid myself. Although I wouldn't actually be riding Tom's bike, so maybe I'd still need my own anyway.

Good luck to anyone who places a bid - it's a great item, and it's for an even greater cause.

'Subterranean' Trailer

Fri December 1st 2006 @ 3:00AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

As always, with huge thanks to Steve, here's the trailer for next Thursday's new episode of Smallville, 'Subterranean', which aired following this week's repeat of 'Sneeze'. 'Subterranean' will be the last new Smallville episode until the middle of January, when Tom Welling's second directorial effort, 'Hydro', is scheduled to air.

Justin Won't Shut Up!

Fri December 1st 2006 @ 1:59AM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment

I mean this in the nicest way possible, of course, but Justin Hartley can't seem to shut up about how great Tom is in most of his recent interviews.

In a new CW Connect interview over at the CW Network, Justin answered a number of questions from the fans. One of the questions was "How is it working with your co-stars?", and when he got to Tom, Justin had this to say:

Tom's our leader. It's interesting because he plays Superman on the show, but he's also the leader on set. He's always there and you can tell he's in charge, and has a handle on how things are going. He leads us.

It's interesting that Justin's comments lead me to think take me to your leader. Literally. I'd quite like to meet Tom, as I'm sure most of us would.
