Right on time, Warner Bros. has released two more stills featuring Tom from last night's Smallville season premiere, 'Zod'. Clark's outfit is actually growing on me, little by little. I may even like it by this time next week, although it might be a touch late by then.

Unfortunately, as I suspected, I'm not having much luck with screen caps for this week's episode. Hopefully I'll manage to do that over the weekend - if not, I'll be just as disappointed as everyone else!

It's been a long and sometimes torturous wait, but at long last, Smallville's sixth season premieres tonight on the CW Network.

Unfortunately I'm still having a few 'net connection problems, so I haven't been able to upload any of the goodies that Jana has sent to me recently, nor any of the goodies I've, erm, sent to myself (I'm not sure how that works). But thankfully there are still a few things for you all to look at while you're waiting to watch 'Zod', tonight's season premiere:

MSN TV has posted up a new article about Smallville's sixth season, which features a few spoilers and a number of really fun anecdotes about the show's cast and crew. Tom is featured very heavily, and my personal favourite portion of the article is this one:

In between takes, Welling makes finger-puppets for the camera and tells a story about a party he was at recently at the Chateau Marmont, featuring an apparently cut-rate party psychic.

I've never been any good at making finger puppets; I'm all thumbs! The really fun parts about Tom are all on the second page of the article, but the whole thing is well worth a read.

I'm sorry I posted this at such short notice (I had barely any internet access at the weekend)! Craig at KryptonSite has let me know that Tom, not too surprisingly, is no longer scheduled to appear on this morning's Live With Regis And Kelly.

Although Craig's information is very rarely wrong, I would have tried to corroborate this information myself if I had found out about it sooner - which is no fault of Craig's, since he emailed me on Friday night! As it is, I probably won't know for sure whether Tom has shown up until the same time that everyone else does, a couple of hours from now when Regis And Kelly airs on the East Coast. At this point I would recommend that you still tune in to the show just in case, and that you keep your fingers crossed; but please try not to be too disappointed if Tom isn't there.

I really hope my computer decides to calm down and stop hissing - limited internet access is usually fine at the weekend, however it's not so good when there are only a few days until the launch of a new Smallville season!

Update: As expected, Tom wasn't announced at the beginning of the show, so it's safe to say that for some reason he skipped yet another appearance. Bad Tom. No biscuit!

Although it's a bit disappointing for Tom's fans, there is a new video up at the CW's website from the network's launch party. There are short sound bites from Erica Durance and Jenson Ackles, but unfortunately none from Tom.

One thing that will be nice for Tom's fans is an apparently new picture of Tom from the green carpet that has been posted in their gallery. It is very similar to images James posted before, but a new image might be reason enough to make a visit to the site and take a look.

In yet another video clip from Monday's CW Launch Party, Tom is once again shown chatting with E!'s Kristin. This time the subject is whether Clark should be with Lana or Chloe, and Tom's answer is, as is often the case, very fun if more than a little vague with the details ... although that may be a good thing on this occasion!

In what's turning out to be a busy week on the video clips front, last night's edition of E! News also featured a very short snippet of Tom, speaking with the inimitable Kristin Veitch. Only this time the topic wasn't quite as mundane as his furry face; this time the topic was the sixth season of Smallville, which will air on the new CW Network just one week from now!

Please don't view this video if you hate potential spoilers, and if certain semi-controversial spoilers (which shall remain unspok - err, untyped) for the first few episodes are making you gag, it also might be best to avoid this one. Even if Tom was half joking, which is entirely possible given his track record, it's still got to tell you something about the show's possible course this year. You have been warned. Unfortunately the CW Network has only released them at this small size so far, but as soon as I have larger copies I'll do the switcheroo thing and replace these with something a bit clearer.

Thanks to Jana I've just added even more images from Monday's CW Network Launch Party, including a couple of really nice close-up shots.

In addition, TMZ.com has posted a video from Monday night featuring Tom, Kristen Bell, and numerous other stars of the CW and elsewhere. The full video is quite long, and mostly made up of paparazzi footage that I'm really not very fond of, so I won't be linking to the whole thing. But luckily Tom's six-second segment on the Green Carpet seems legitimate enough, so here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Meanwhile last night's edition of E! News also caught up with a few stars at the CW Launch Party, and Tom was shown in a very amusing five-second snippet. As a man (arguably), I can safely say that I agree with Tom's diagnosis: facial hair is indeed visible when you don't shave. Unless you've had electrolysis on your face ...

I'm sorry I took so long to post Tom's interview from Monday's ET Presents The CW special, which Steve kindly sent to me - but since it took me this long to get around to it, here's two for the price of one: the clip from ET Presents The CW launch Party, which aired last night, as well. Thanks to Serene for this clip!

Unfortunately the second special was mostly a rerun of Monday's show, just with a few added clips from Monday night's CW Launch Party. So rather than waste bandwidth posting the same footage twice, I've haphazardly edited the new segments together into a much shorter video. Don't worry, all of the good stuff is still there, I promise!

Last night, as I reported he would be last Thursday, Tom was present for the CW Network Launch Party at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California. With thanks as always to Jana, I've now added a few pictures from the event in the image gallery. Tom was wearing one of his nice tailored suits, so I can't find much to comment on this time - I'm not used to being left without something to critique!

Steve has also very kindly sent me a video of Tom's interview on ET Presents The CW, which aired last night, but I haven't yet had a chance to upload it. I won't be able to do that for a few hours, but please check back later today for that, and perhaps some more images from the launch party as well.

With big thanks to Steve and Serene, here's a bumper pack of video clips from over the last few days.

First up are two clips from Steve of TV Guide's 2006 Fall TV Preview and Get Ready For The CW specials. Tom's comments in the clips aren't really anything out of the norm, but it's always nice to see some new footage. And, of course, the almost obligatory torn red t-shirt is quite nice too.

Finally, with thanks to Serene, I've also got a clip of Tom's "interview" with ET on MTV over the weekend. The clip is really just a preview of the full interview set to air tonight, on ET Presents The CW, so hopefully we'll all be able to see the whole thing soon! The Talon set appears to get a very heavy interview staging workout - I suppose I'll be waiting indefinitely for an interview from the spoilery place where Clark spent the last four months.

Valerie just sent an e-mail to let me (and everyone else, of course) know that Tom is interviewed on this weekend's ET on MTV, which will be airing at 7:00am on Sunday, 17th September, and 9:00am on Monday, 18th September - check local listings just in case the date and time differs in your area.

For fans of MySpace, the CW has recently launched their own official page at myspace.com/thecw. There isn't a huge amount to see yet, however there is a fun – if a little messy – wallpaper featuring many of the CW's stars. Included are three small images of Tom, two of which appear to be new; and one of which appears to be channelling the WWE's own Dwayne Johnson, albeit on the wrong side of Tom's face.

Not that Dwayne is a bad person to channel, but couldn't Tom have chosen someone with a slightly less iffy box office record? What if the eyebrow is responsible for that! I kid, obviously.

In yesterday's Ausiello Report at the new-look TV Guide, ol' Mikey Ausiello (can I call him Mikey, or does it have to be Michael?) mentioned that he will be attending the CW Launch Party on Monday, September 18th. And according to him the list of attending stars includes:

Lauren Graham, Scott Patterson, David Sutcliffe, Kristen Bell, Tom Welling, Beverly Mitchell, Chad Michael Murray, Hilarie Burton, Sophia Bush, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles

There's a very familiar name in there for those who pay attention - of which I'm clearly not one, since Serene had to pass this link to me. Thanks Serene! So that's yet another thing to watch out for. No rest for the wicked ...

Set those VCR's and TiVo's! It looks like Tom will be appearing on Live With Regis And Kelly on Monday, September 25th, according to the usually reliable Late Night TV Page.

This will be the first time Tom has appeared on a talk show since (unless I'm forgetting something, which is entirely possible given the frazzled state of my brain) December 2003, and his previous appearances on Regis And Kelly were both great fun, so I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed that he keeps this appointment!

The image isn't quite as amusing (to me) as the other few images that were released, but still ... Tom Welling, Allison Mack, and Aaron Ashmore are always good.

Over the next week TV Guide Channel will be airing two different shows which are likely to feature segments about Smallville. The first is the 2006 Fall TV Preview, which has already aired a couple of times but will be repeated through the week. The second is Get Ready For The CW, which premieres this Friday, September 15th.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight will be airing two specials in the run up to the launch of the new CW Network. On Monday, September 18th, ET Presents The CW Launch Of A New Network, which is scheduled to feature exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews with many of the CW's stars, including Tom Welling. Then, on Tuesday, September 19th, ET Presents The CW Launch Party. Even if Tom doesn't show up to the party, there still may be a few shots of him in there.

Check your local listings for the exact air times of all these shows.

Over on the newly-launched Smallville section at CWTV.com, two new season 6 promo images of Tom Welling have been posted. The first is included in a group shot of the entire cast, on the opening page, and the second is featured on the show info page. All other images of Tom appear to be promos from previous years, and most of the information seems to be the same as it was on TheWB.com. But hey, it's a start!

I was actually going to wait even longer to post these (I've had them for a few weeks and had forgotten about them) because I felt it might be unwise to go straight from the dressed-up, dapper Tom in the new Smallville images, to ye olde Tom in his summer time Grizzly Adams phase ...

Still, I decided to go for broke and post these images of Tom throwing the first pitch at Fenway Park, on June 29th, primarily because I have a strange compulsion to make the most of the compare-and-contrast opportunity. As if I don't know what most people are going to say, which do you prefer: this, or this? Jamie, who is with Tom in the first of the six new images, probably doesn't care either way, and for the most part I tend to agree. But only for the most part. Man in black is good. Man in beard is iffy.

A few new promo images for Smallville's sixth season, which begins soon on the CW Network, have just been released. Two of the images feature Tom Welling, and one of them in particular has a very nice man-in-black theme going on. I've just posted smallish copies of them both in the season six promo gallery, and slightly larger (though fairly poor quality) copies are available at TV.com.

I've still been feeling under the weather (post-viral fatigue is a pain in the, erm, something or other) and this was really nice pick-me-up.

ETA: Thanks to Jana I've posted slightly larger copies, and in a little while I'll also be posting some images of Tom from his little ball-throwing escapade at the end of June - Jana sent me those a couple of weeks ago and it's yet another thing that slipped my mind!

I was tempted to make a big deal out of not having posted any news for over a week, but I think I'm too lazy. So to the good stuff.

Yesterday's edition of the TV Guide Insider featured the second part of their Q&A with Allison Mack, which includes a few comments about Tom and his alter-ego, Clark Kent. Of note are Allison's comments about the almost-annual Chlark lip-lock (Or is it tongue bath? Either term works!) and its inevitable aftermath.

And then, of course, there's a new season 6 trailer that has been airing on the CW Network. It's bound to be a little controversial, and I can't bring myself to watch it again because poor Clarkie's wittle face makes me cry - but if you want to watch it, go right ahead. I'm not responsible if you later wish to poke out your eyes. Although if you actually like it, that's fine too! And it is, of course, spoilery, just in case that didn't go without saying. Big thanks to Steve for the video!

Last, but by no means least on the Tom Welling side of things, the French website Planete Smallville has a new interview with Emily Hirst, who guest-starred as Maddie in Tom's directorial debut, 'Fragile'. Emily has some really nice things to say about Tom's work in the director's chair – and baseball cap – during the shoot. The interview is in French, so any errors in the translation of these snippets are entirely my own:

It was really super. It was the first time Tom had directed, so on the first day it went quite slowly, but people on the set were all very kind because they have experience with it and know the pressure that's on the shoulders of the director, pressure which is obviously even stronger when you're also playing the lead role. By the second day Tom had found his marks and he did very well. I can't really speak for Tom, but he seemed to deal very well with managing both acting and directing. He did them one at a time, first one and then the other. He switched back and forth, and by the end it really worked.

It's far from a perfect translation, but to read the whole article you may want to use Babel Fish. Any errors in Babel Fish's translation are, of course, not mine. Thanks to Cindy and Mel for the link to the interview.

And so, to the absolute last thing. Following on from the North Carolina premiere of Mark Welling's movie, Circling Serita, at the beginning of August, the Los Angeles premiere will be held at the Lighthouse Cafe in Hermosa Beach, next Tuesday, September 12th. Doors open at 7:00pm, and tickets are $5 at the door or $3 in advance. I've known about this for a few weeks and completely forgot to mention it - oops! My apologies.
