Updates On Mark's Movies
Tue June 27th 2006 @ 3:58PM - James - Mark Welling - 2 Comments
There hasn't been much news about Mark's movies, Wrestling and Circling Serita lately, but today I've got a few updates about both of them.
According to the movie's website, the premiere of Circling Serita is scheduled to be held at the Visulite Theatre in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday, August 10th. With luck that means we won't have to wait too long to see the movie for ourselves!
Meanwhile, after some serious problems with the digital recording (documented by Spark Weekly), Wrestling is finally close to being ready for release. Festival screenings should begin in October, and the movie's premiere will likely be held in Delaware shortly afterwards. If everything goes to plan – and let's face it, this film has already had far too much bad luck – Wrestling should be released in late 2006 or early 2007.
Tom's Judging Amy Episodes In The UK
Sat June 24th 2006 @ 8:34PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
For fans in the United States, Tom's six episodes of Judging Amy have been repeated numerous times over the last couple of years on TNT. Meanwhile Tom's fans in the UK, myself included, haven't been so lucky!
Fortunately the Hallmark Channel in the UK has recently been showing Judging Amy from the very first episode, and will soon begin showing the second-season episodes which feature Tom as Karate Rob. Although tentative and subject to change, the schedule is likely to be as follows:
- 'The Undertow' - Wednesday, July 5th @ 11:00am and 7:00pm
- 'Adoption Day' - Thursday, July 6th @ 11:00am and 7:00pm
- 'The Claw Is Our Master' - Friday, July 7th @ 11:00am and 7:00pm
- 'The Treachery Of Compromise' - Thursday, July 13th @ 11:00am and 7:00pm
- 'Everybody Falls Down' - Friday, July 14th @ 11:00am and 7:00pm
- 'Between The Wanting And The Getting' - Wednesday, July 19th @ 11:00am and 7:00pm
President Welling?
Wed June 21st 2006 @ 3:51PM - James - Tom Welling - 2 Comments
I always enjoy funny little articles that seem to come completely out of nowhere, and an article at the Delaware Wave fits that bill perfectly.
Spurred by a trip to California, home of "The Governator", the article's author discusses former and current Delaware-based celebrities who would make a good politician. Having grown up in Hockessin, Delaware, Tom is listed as one of the potential candidates; however it's a real shame that the list is restricted to celebs from Delaware, because Big Bird should so be on it as well!
I'll definitely have to ponder this one ... I have an alarming compulsion to make fun of all politicians, even those I like, and Tom doesn't deserve any more of that from me.
E!'s Sexiest Celeb Brunettes Video
Wed June 21st 2006 @ 8:42AM - James - Tom Welling - 9 Comments
With huge thanks to Steve, here's the video clip of Tom's segment from E! 's Sexiest Celeb Brunettes. Tom came in at #19 on the list, which is slightly more disappointing than if he'd been number one, and slightly less disappointing than if he'd been number 25.
My only real issue with the comments made about Tom is something that I've screeched about many times: Tom does not have blue eyes! You can even ask him if you don't believe me ...
Tom In E!'s Sexiest Celeb Brunettes
Sat June 17th 2006 @ 3:13AM - James - Tom Welling - 2 Comments
In an advertisement on E! Online for an upcoming Sexiest Celeb Brunettes special, Tom Welling is featured alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and (I think) Kate Beckinsale. Since Tom is in the advertisement, I think it's fair to assume that he'll be on the list.
Starting next Tuesday, E!'s Sexiest Celeb Brunettes will be counting down the 25, erm, sexiest celebrity brunettes – I like it when a show's title makes sense – at the following dates and times:
- Tuesday, June 20th @ 10:00pm
- Wednesday, June 21st @ 2:00am
- Wednesday, June 21st @ 11:00am
- Saturday, June 24th @ 1:00pm
- Sunday, June 25th @ 9:00am
- Tuesday, June 27th @ 6:00pm
A Few New 'Vessel' Stills
Thu June 15th 2006 @ 5:52AM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment
I've had these for over a week and I'd completely forgotten about them! I guess most things are better late than never, so I've finally added nine new stills from Smallville's fifth season finale, 'Vessel', to the media gallery.
The images feature Tom Welling and Allison Mack, and although they're from the same scenes as the other stills, there are some great new shots.
2006 Teen Choice Awards & Site Updates
Thu June 15th 2006 @ 1:05AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
It's been busy busy for me lately, so I haven't had much time to update this site. I can only apologise for that. So to the news:
Tom, along with Smallville and its stars, have been nominated for the 2006 Teen Choice Awards, which air at 8:00pm on August 20th, on Fox. As always, the award show will be held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City; however I believe this is the first year that it will be airing live - albeit probably on a short tape delay.
The nominations are:
- Smallville - Choice TV Show: Drama/Action Adventure
- Tom Welling - Choice TV Actor: Drama/Action Adventure
- Kristin Kreuk - Choice TV Actress: Drama/Action Adventure
- Allison Mack - Choice TV Sidekick
Big thanks to Dee and Valerie for sending me the link!
In other news, I've finally added a few more Smallville screen captures, from 'Rosetta', 'Visitor', 'Precipice' and 'Witness'. That's the second season almost wrapped up - then it's on to number three; only a measly 47 episodes left to go!
Tom Makes Donation To FORGE
Thu June 8th 2006 @ 7:48AM - James - Tom Welling - 2 Comments
According to an article at the Boston Herald, Tom recently made a donation to Northeastern University student Ben Kneppers’ summer project with FORGE.
FORGE is a project that helps refugees in Africa. More details can be found at Northeastern University's website, FORGE-NU, and at Ben's FORGE blog."Smallville stud Tom Welling made a hefty donation to Northeastern University student Ben Kneppers’ summer project in Africa. The Huskie is headed to Zambia next week to teach HIV/AIDS awareness to high school kids through a soccer program. ... He contacted Welling through a friend who is the actor’s sister-in-law."
Back Seat Driver
Tue June 6th 2006 @ 5:45PM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment
Back in March, at the Grand Slam convention, Jared Padalecki told a great story about Tom pulling a prank on the Supernatural crew when he dropped by for a visit to the set. Over the past few weeks Kristin Veitch at E! Online has been teasing a story from the CW Upfronts, and as it turns out, it's an even more detailed account of that same incident - this time as told by a certain Tom Welling:
Kristin closes by saying that she'd pay to see that "triple hot-boy rumble". Maybe they could put it in a blooper reel on the Supernatural DVD and she'll get her chance? Please? I'd buy it."Supernatural and Smallville actually shoot a block away from each other, and I'm really good friends with Jensen and Jared. Last season, at one point, I actually got off a little bit earlier than they did, and I went down to their set. They weren't there yet, and I knew some of the people on set, because they had worked on Smallville, so I jumped in the backseat of their car, and if you've seen the show, you know they're always driving their car and they're pullin' in to places and getting out of their car. So, I get in the backseat, and they were in a big hurry because they were late getting to set – very unprofessional – and they jumped in the car very quickly 'cause the crew was yelling 'We're already rolling, go, go, go.' And just as they jumped in, I reached over, and I grabbed Jensen, and I pulled him into the backseat, and he didn't know what was going on. He thought it was his stunt double, so he started hittin' me, so I started hittin' him back. And then when he realized who was who, they said 'Action,' so he jumps in the front seat, we tear down this alley, he pulls into this bar and all three of us jumped out, and we all walked into this bar, and as we walked in, the door closed and we heard 'Um ... cut?' They didn't know what was goin' on. So, I made an appearance on Supernatural. I believe I was edited out."
DVDs And Books And Auctions, Oh My!
Mon June 5th 2006 @ 2:49PM - James - Tom Welling - 3 Comments
There hasn't been any major news to report over the last few days, so I've been enjoying a little rest and relaxation. Still, I can't keep silent for long!
A few days ago the cover art for Smallville's fifth season DVD boxed set was released over at TVShowsOnDVD.com; I have to say that while I do like the image of Tom that's on the cover, they should have used a picture that was actually from season five! The box covers for seasons' one and two used imagery that had originally been an advertisement poster; the first season's iconic Clark "If I Only Had A Brain AKA Scarecrow" Kent, and the second season's Clark-Lex-Lana triptych. Using imagery from the season you're trying to sell is always a good idea.
The DVD is currently scheduled to be released in region 1 format on September 12th, and there are unconfirmed reports that it may be released in region 2 format on August 28th.
Meanwhile, in some really exciting news for Craig over at KryptonSite, his very first publication is soon to be released: Smallville: The Visual Guide. The guide contains information and images from every episode of Smallville's first five seasons, and will be a great resource for every fan of the show.
In what was going to be the last piece of news for this post (until I stumbled upon an amusing anecdote that I'll get to in a moment), the Adrian Paul PEACE Fund is holding another auction to raise funds for children affected by adverse circumstances. Last year, Tom donated a couple of autographed items to their auctions. While Tom hasn't personally donated anything this time around, the Smallville lighting crew have donated a t-shirt that will hopefully raise some interest. The t-shirt was only added at the last minute, and the auction closes later today so you'll have to be quick if you want to place a bid!
So, to that final, amusing anecdote. In an article about Everwood's series finale from the Star Ledger, the authors note that when Everwood's demise was announced at the CW Upfronts a few weeks ago, the attendant critics "looked like they were ready to vault over the railing to throttle Ostroff until she agreed to bring it back – or until Tom Welling and Chad Michael Murray were called in to play bouncer."
Heh. Though I wouldn't want Tom to do anything that could result in damage; so any kind of bouncing that doesn't involve a pogo stick is probably not a good idea.
