The Fog Glides to First
Mon October 17th 2005 @ 11:13PM - James - Tom Welling - 3 Comments
With a slightly disappointing total weekend gross of almost $11.8 million, The Fog just barely took the predicted first place spot at the box office on its opening weekend; in an incredibly close-run race, the movie overcame second placed Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit by less than $250k.
Still, a win is a win. Congratulations go out to Tom and the rest of The Fog's cast and crew! I just hope they don't use this as an excuse to continue making bad movies ... oops, was that out loud?

I was planning on seeing The Fog this weekend, but I didn't get the chance - I hope I can see it soon. I'm so glad it was #1!

I agree with you, I was disappointed with The Fog. I did enjoy it, but overall I'd hoped it would be much better. I especially didn't care for Tom's line about "Wild and crazy ..."
But I won't hold it against him: he's still awesome.

I'm not a horror movie fan, but I went to see The Fog on Friday because I adore Tom Welling.
And, to my mild surprise and great pleasure, I actually thought the movie was pretty good. It was especially nice to see Tom on a bigger screen, looking less boyish and Clark-Kentish. I liked the story, the atmosphere and the acting, and we all ready know that Tom can act as he proves it every Thursday night. The dialogue was a little too skimpy for me, though - Tom certainly didn't have to stretch to memorize those lines. And what was up with the lack of chemistry between Tom and Maggie?
All in all, I would give it three-and-a-half stars out of five. It exceeded my expectations. And let's all hope that this helps Tom land a leading-man role in an even better movie next summer!
