USA Today Discusses Refocus of Smallville

Fri August 27th 2004 @ 7:04PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

USA Today recently took a look at the upcoming fourth season of Smallville, set to premiere on September 22nd, on The WB. The article discusses the downturn in ratings last season, and Al Gough, one of the the shows' executive producers, attributes that downturn to the show becoming "a little darker than we wanted to go," and "a little too mythology-heavy."

The article goes on to outline a number of the changes that will been made to the show this year, including potential spoilers relating to the introduction of new characters and other time-honoured aspects of the Superman mythos in the new season. Accompanying the article was the new promotional image that you can view by clicking the thumbnail to your left.

If you would like to find out exactly what will be happening at the beginning of season four, please visit USA Today to read the whole article!

Tom to Appear in Batman Begins?

Tue August 24th 2004 @ 4:47PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

In a news report today at Superhero Hype, a call sheet from the August 15th Batman Begins shoot in Chicago was posted - and interestingly the call sheet lists a certain "T. Welling" in the role of "Kent".

Does this mean that Tom will be making a cameo appearance – or possibly having quite a substantial role – as Clark Kent in the movie? This would be a very interesting twist on recent news about Tom being signed to a movie, and I won't be greatly surprised if it's true; but if it is true, it's interesting to note that this has been kept under wraps very successfully. To read the whole article and view a scan of the call sheet, please head over to the Batman page at Superhero Hype!

Tom in One Magazine

Sun August 22nd 2004 @ 1:45PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

In the current issue (n°29, August/September) of the French magazine, One, there is an image of Tom from a few years ago when he was still working as a model for the Wilhelmina Models agency. This image may not be new to many of you, but it is nevertheless a very nice image if you are able to find a copy of the magazine.

If you are aware of Tom being in any other current magazine issues, please contact me and let me know!

"Crusade" Video Clips

Sun August 22nd 2004 @ 11:48AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

With special thanks to KryptonSite, TomWelling.org is able to bring you two recently "leaked" clips from the Smallville Season Four premiere episode, "Crusade". The clips contain some mild nudity that probably won't end up in the aired episode; the first video contains two clips of Clark, and the second video contains one clip of Lana and Clark respectively. You will require Quicktime Player to view them.

When you have downloaded and viewed the clips, you can then go over to KryptonSite and view their collection of screen caps that were taken from the videos.

Major Site Changes to Take Place

Sat August 21st 2004 @ 8:04PM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment

In part due to the rising costs of running such a huge site, and primarily because of the health problems that I have been having recently, I have taken the extremely difficult decision to remove the multimedia section of the site.

Maintaining and updating so many huge image galleries was becoming extremely time-consuming, and because of the lack of time that I currently have this was causing me to neglect other areas of the site. I had reached a point where I felt that I had two options: Either remove the multimedia section, or close the site in its entirety; I believed the first option to be the better one.

Although I realise that the multimedia galleries were a primary reason that many people had for visiting the site, I sincerely hope that they weren't the only reason as I have always tried to ensure that other areas of the site are equally comprehensive. With this in mind I now intend to spend time adding more in-depth news and information that will hopefully be of continued interest to many of you.

Whilst the multimedia section itself has now been removed, I will continue to accept and display fan art and other images in the relevant areas of the site, and I will continue to encourage fans to submit stories, news, and other content; in doing so I hope that the site will become a much more interactive experience. When all of these changes have been completed I hope to have created a streamlined TomWelling.org with all of the informational content that it has become known for, but with none of the unnecessary stress.

If you have any questions or comments, or if you would like to offer any news, information, or other content, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Smallville Season Four Promotional Images

Wed August 18th 2004 @ 6:58AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

Craig over at KryptonSite has recently updated the site with promotional episode stills from the first two episodes of Smallville's fourth season, 'Crusade' and 'Gone'. The images contain slight spoilers for what will take place in the episodes, so you probably won't want to look at them if you're spoilerphobic.

On a side note, season four Clark is apparently still wearing overly-huge shirts that look like they were once a tablecloth. So head over to KryptonSite to take a look at them if you haven't already.

Tom Signed for "A Movie"

Tue August 17th 2004 @ 2:51PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

Last Wednesday, MTV reported that they had spoken to Tom at the recording of the Teen Choice Awards the previous Sunday, and that he had informed their reporters that "he's signed on for a movie but is not allowed to discuss it." To read the full online article you can visit MTV.com.

With rumours circulating that Tom could star in the upcoming Superman movie, to be directed by Bryan Singer, his comments have obviously added to the speculation. Of course he could just as easily have been talking about the sequel to last years' hit movie, Cheaper By The Dozen, or to any number of other movies that are currently in pre-production. Right now your guess is as good as mine.

If you have any idea what he may have been talking about, your comments are very much welcome; alternatively, if you'd like to contact me about this or anything else privately, you can use the contact form to do so.

Tom & Kristin At 2004 Teen Choice Awards

Mon August 9th 2004 @ 1:23AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

Last night, as scheduled, Tom appeared alongside his Smallville co-star Kristin Kreuk at the 2004 Teen Choice Awards, which were held at the Universal Amphitheatre in Universal City.

Unfortunately neither Tom nor Kristin won an award, however they did appear on stage to present the award for "Choice TV Reality Show" to Tom's friend and former modelling colleague, Ashton Kutcher, for Punk'd.

Cumulative News & Updates

Sun August 1st 2004 @ 11:03AM - James - Tom Welling - 3 Comments

Since the last update there have been a number of additions to the fan art gallery, including digital manipulations of Tom as Superman, and some great drawings. Personally I don't really want Tom to star as Superman in the new movie, however I thought it might be fun to see what he'd look like in the trademark tights; if you'd like to send in your own art work for display in the gallery, please contact me to let me know.

Additionally, TomWelling.org was recently awarded by Celebrity Blog; the award button can be viewed on the awards page.

In other news, Tom was unable to appear as scheduled at the San Diego Comic Con. However he is scheduled to appear with his Smallville co-star, Kristin Kreuk, at the 2004 Teen Choice Awards. The awards show which will be taped next Sunday, August 8th, and will air on Wednesday, August 11th, on Fox.

In movie news, rumours have been circulating about a number of film roles that Tom has been offered. As far as I know Tom is not in the running for the role of Goku in Dragon Ball Z; while he may have been offered the role, there is very little likelihood that he will accept it or has seriously considered it. This rumour first began back in February and unfortunately it has recently been given credibility by various teen magazines.

Also, despite some recent news to the contrary, it is unlikely – but I dare say not impossible – that Tom will be starring in the forthcoming big-screen Superman adaptation. Of course that hasn't stopped me from asking, "Should Tom star in the new Superman movie?" in the current fan poll - despite my personal opinion that he shouldn't be in the movie, the result is so far overwhelmingly in favour of Tom being the next Superman.
