Don't Forget to Watch "Quest" Tonight!
Thu May 8th 2008 @ 7:00PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
Despite the stellar episode that Tom directed last week, ratings were down for Smallville, so I just wanted to remind everyone in the US to watch the new episode, "Quest," that's airing tonight.
It looks like another Clark-centric episode so I'm sure there will be plenty of Tom-Goodness...
Be sure to tune in!
Tom at the Met!
Wed May 7th 2008 @ 1:26AM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
You remember when I posted the fact that the US May edition of Vogue was going to have Tom posing? Well, Conde Nast (the publisher of Vogue) co-sponsored the Metropolitan Museam of Art Costume Institute show based on style influenced by Superheroes.
Of course, Clark Kent/Superman was one of the characters featured in the exhibit so Tom Welling went to the show's Grand Opening. He hob-nobbed with people you might have heard of: George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and even David Beckham and Posh Spice.
I hope he had a good time because he certainly looked good.

Keep an eye out for stories and more images from the party, but here's a quick write up from E! Online on the exclusive after-party he went to that doubled as George Clooney's 47th Birthday Bash.
I hope this increased visibility is a sign that Tom is shrugging off his camera shy ways when it comes to getting some positive press.
Thanks to Serene for the link to the write-up about Clooney's birthday party...
Tom's Next Directorial Effort Airs Tonight!
Thu May 1st 2008 @ 5:01AM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
If you've seen the my posts the last month or two, you probably are aware that Tom's episode is airing tonight in the US.
I've seen some reaction around the web from our Canadian friends that had seen it Wednesday night. As far as I could tell, while trying to avoid spoilers, it would appear Tom did an oustanding job both as an actor and as a director. The early reviews appear all to be positve.
Let's help make this very important episode for Tom be a successful one. Don't forget to tune in!
Another behind the scenes TV Guide Featurette from Apocalypse
Wed April 30th 2008 @ 1:52AM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
I'm beginning to think that TV Guide Channel loves Tom, they have yet another behind-the-scenes look at the making of this week's episode.
This piece is about the same length as the one I posted last week and there are some sections that are the same, but this time we see more of Tom in action behind the scenes. Also, we hear from James Marsters and Erica Durance and what they thought of Tom as a director.
Take a look, but be warned that it is spoilery so spoiler-phobes should probably give this a pass.
A Couple of Clips from Tom's next Directorial Effort
Sun April 27th 2008 @ 5:34PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
I don't like linking to The CW's site because I can't always get their content to play and I'm in the US. So, I feel extra bad for the Tom Welling fans in the rest of the world who can't see the content at all.
So, here I'll put up some Youtube clips from the next episode, which Tom also directed, "Apocalypse." These are very spoilery, so if you don't like being spoiled pass these on by until after you've seen the episode.
Here is the extended version of the trailer:
Here is the terrific Diretor's cut which Clark doesn't show up in until the end, but it's just so good. If this brief clip, not even a minute long, is this good, can you imagine how wonderful the rest of it will be?
Happy 31st Birthday, Tom!

This is Tom's 31st Birthday, so I hope he has a very happy one!
Happy Birthday, Tom!
TV Guide Snippet on Next Week's Episode
Fri April 25th 2008 @ 10:26PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
Tom was featured in a TV Guide Channel featurette on his next directorial effort that airs next Thursday here in the US, "Apocalypse."
Luckily, if you don't get the TV Guide Channel, someone was nice and put it up on Youtube.
I have to warn you, however, that if you're spoier-phobic you should probably wait until after you see the episode to view this. Otherwise, click the embedded video below. It's fun to see Tom behind the camera and I'm looking forward to the episode. Hopefully, it'll help me forget "Sleeper"...
Thanks to Mel for the link.
New Episode Tonight!
Thu April 24th 2008 @ 2:20AM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
I want to remind people that another new episode airs tonight!
You won't want to miss it, I'm sure. Tom has been delivering terrific performances each and every episode this season, so please tune in!
New Episode Tonight and Tom is in Vogue!
Thu April 17th 2008 @ 12:07PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
For those of you in the US, don't forget to tune into Smallville tonight! It's a new episode and it looks like a terrific one, so be sure to watch The CW.
Oh, and did you hear? Tom is in this month's US Vogue.
He's in a very creative spread of pictures that he apparently enjoyed shooting. I've seen scans online, but don't have the issue yet.
There are some nice quotes from Tom. My favorite quote is this one. He'd said he was more into sports growing up, then was asked if he'd warmed up to Superman:
I'm so glad Tom still enjoys playing the character, I know I enjoy watching him do it. There is also some beautiful images of Tom in the Vogue issue, he is certainly looking as handsome as I've ever seen him, so please be sure to pick up your copy."I've learned to love him a little, sure. He's a good guy. You know, as a kid you think that you can be that. You have all of these emotions and ambitions, and to play them out through this character is cathartic. It's also a lot of fun."
The May 2008 issue should be out on newsstands in the next few days...
Wrestling Premiere
Wed April 2nd 2008 @ 6:48PM - Cindy - Mark Welling - 0 Comments
Some of you might remember a few years back that Mark Welling made his feature film debut in Jeremy O’Keefe's film, "Wrestling." (His second film, "Circling Serita," debuted first back in August 2006. See the notes on that HERE.)
Maybe better late than never, the film was shot almost three years ago, the film is finally getting its World Premiere. It will preem at the TheatreN in Wilmington, Delaware on April 28th at 7pm. The first screening includes admittance to the Pre-Screening Gala (location still TBD) from 4:30-6:30pm. The cost of tickets is only $20.
There will be a second screening at 9pm for $10. That one includes an introduction by the filmmaker, Jeremy O'Keefe.
If you are interested in seeing the film at either screening, I wouldn't blame if you are (it sounds like a good one), you can find ordering info HERE.
Be sure to order tickets soon, Jeremy's email mentioned that seats are limited and that they're going fast.
Congratulations to Jeremy, Mark, and the rest of the cast!
OPERATION BIRTHDAY CARD!
Sat March 29th 2008 @ 5:52PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
Some friends of mine have wanted to do something special for Tom for his birthday, something big like him; something big like the impact he's had on the show. I think it's a fine idea so I agreed to post their message.
If you participate, please make any messages short and sweet. Tom Welling, if a lot of people participate, will get a lot of cards and notes so a simple "Happy Birthday, Tom!" will probably be perfect.
If you want to give feedback to Valerie, see her post on her livejournal HERE.
Don't forget to get these out soon since Tom's 31st birthday is on April 26th, which is just a few days before SMALLVILLE is scheduled to stop filming.
MISSION OBJECTIVE:
To wish Tom Welling a very happy 31st birthday, and at the same time show this talented actor a little fandom love.
MISSION PARAMETERS:
Well, it’s really simple. Send a birthday card. That’s it! Or maybe, a postcard with a personalized greeting. Whatever works best for you. It’s not complicated. Make it a serious card, and write him a little note. Or find a funny card, and just sign your name. Make some SV artwork on your computer, print it out, and stick it in an envelope.
Like I said, its so simple! It's up to you to find the best way to wish the big guy an awesome B-Day!
The address to the Smallville studio is provided at the bottom of this message. It appears that the show will be filming until almost the very end of April, but that is fast approaching. So, we’ll need to get this mission underway with strike force like speed.
Unfortunately, due to the time crunch, there’s no time to try and gather up the greetings in one place, and send it in one big package. So, it’s up to all of you to join in on the mission, and send something yourself, directly. It’s just the cost of a card/postcard, and the postage to get it from where you are to Vancouver, BC, Canada.
And please, for those of you located outside of the USA and Canada, please consider joining the effort. You might have to get that mailed ASAP, but just think how cool it would be for him to get a birthday card from Australia? Or Brazil? Or Japan? Or France?
One request though. It would be nice if we could show that this is an organized effort. To do so, I believe all that’s required would be for all of us to include “OPERATION BIRTHDAY CARD” somewhere on the outside of your envelope. Let him know that we’re all in this together.
Feedback is totally welcome, and the more we can spread this message, the more mail the poor SV staff has to handle. Also, it would be really great to get an idea of how many people have decided to join us. So, if you could leave a message and let us know that you dropped something in the mail, we’d appreciate it. If you want to keep your participation anonymous, consider just sending an email or private message.
I think for those of us who came up with this idea, we just really wanted to do a “BIG” thing for Tom’s birthday, just this once. I know other actors on the show have had their birthdays celebrated by their fans by doing charity fund drives. Which is great! But all we’re asking is for you to send a card. And somehow, I think we’d all agree that the simplicity of the gesture seems most fitting for our Mr. Welling.
Signed
Valerie, Carol, Iliana and Pep

New Episode Tonight!
Thu March 27th 2008 @ 6:22PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
For US residents, don't forget that there is another new episode on your local CW station tonight! This is the last one until the middle of April, when they will finish out the season with five fresh episodes in a row.
Last week's was a wonderful episode for Tom, he did a marvelous job (see what I thought about it in my review on KryptonSite.com), but it didn't get very high ratings. So, I wanted to remind people to catch tonight's if possible. I don't know much about it, but what I do know this episode will be an important one for Tom's character. Clark works on a new superpower, so tune in if you can!
NOTE: Tom has pulled ahead in the TV Guide poll I posted a few days ago, but they're taking multiple votes. So vote often!
Vote for Tom!
Tue March 25th 2008 @ 3:03AM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
Okay, there's another one of those silly online polls. However, if you're anything like me you want Tom to win, right?
Well, TV Guide.com has a new poll and Tom's up for the Sexiest Sci-Fi Guy on TV and he's losing to guys from Battlestar Galactica, Termintor: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, and Moonlight.
Please end this injustice! Vote for Tom right HERE!
NOTE: Tom has pulled ahead, probably with your votes, so thanks but make sure to vote if you haven't already!
Tom will direct the pivotal 150th Episode of Smallville
Sat March 22nd 2008 @ 4:24AM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
US Entertainment Magazine Entertainment Weekly did a Spring TV special where they updated fans on the status of their favorite shows and what will be coming up. In the Smallville blurb they disclosed that the 150th episode, entitled "Apocalypse" according to my friend Craig over on KryptonSite, will be directed by Tom.
I had enjoyed Tom's previous efforts behind the camera. However, just going from the title alone this episode is certainly to be an action-packed one. Tom's gotten to be quite the talented director in the few short years since he started, but he will likely have his work cut out for him.
The fact that he's been given such an important milestone episode to helm that is set to air during the May Sweeps Period must be gratifying to him after all his hard work. It shows how much they trust him and how strongly they believe in his growing skill as a director.
The episode Tom is directing will air in the US on May 1st.
Smallville Has Been Picked up for Season 8!
Tue March 4th 2008 @ 2:02AM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
In case you've missed the news, the show is going to be around one more year!
That there is going to be another season of Smallville should certainly make all of Tom Welling's fans very, very happy. I know it makes me happy.
Original episodes in the US return on March the 13th, so please show Tom your support and tune in.
If you want to read the official verbiage of the announcement, our friend over on KryptonSite, Craig Byrne, has posted the press release online.
You can read it all HERE.
The Writer's Strike is Over
Wed February 13th 2008 @ 4:52AM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
According to a report in Variety, the main Hollywood trade news outlet, Writer's Guild of America members voted decisively to end the strike.
Based on the terms of an interim agreement hammered out last week between the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and the WGA, the writers agreed to finally go back to work Tuesday evening. So the Smallville writers should be back to work on Wednesday.
So,what does this mean for Smallville and Tom Welling fans?
Well, as reported by Craig Byrne over on our affiliate site, KryptonSite, The CW has already announced they have ordered Smalville to produce at least five more episodes this year.
If everything goes well, assuming the members officially ratify the agreement and Smallville can get all five in the can, then we'll have twenty episodes this year instead of just fifteen.
That's great news for Tom Welling fans, especially since it looks like he'll again unfortunately have a summer free of outside commitments.
More fresh Tom Welling to view on Thursday nights will make me happy, so I hope you can all agree.
New Poll!
Fri February 8th 2008 @ 3:41PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
This is scandalous! Tom is currently losing to a guy from One Tree Hill in a poll on the blogsite The CW Source.
Vote for Tom and let everyone know how hot you think he is! Cast your vote HERE.
A couple of Notes
Sat January 26th 2008 @ 4:15PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
I just wanted to remind everyone that Smallville's next new episode will be this coming Thursday, January 31st. "Persona" is sure to be a good one for Tom Welling fans. The end of the last episode, "Gemini," had quite the cliffhanger for Clark so I hope everyone tunes in to see it.
By the way, the Justice League movie got put on hold. They never did announce the cast, although apparently Tom had been in negotiations for the job of Superman at least at one point before they decided to pull the plug. Stated reasons for delaying the film were script problems which they can't resolve because the writers are all on strike...
Vote for Tom!
Sat November 17th 2007 @ 2:59PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
There's another internet poll that I want Tom to win because he really deserves to win this one.
The poll is for you to place your votes on who you think is the Sexiest Man Alive. Of course Tom needs to win that because he is, right?
So, head on over to Cinematical and vote HERE.
A few notes and a New Poll!
Sat October 27th 2007 @ 9:18PM - Cindy - Tom Welling - 0 Comments
Well, still nothing concrete to report on the Justice League film but the rumors are still flying. First Tom's in and then he's out and then alleged casts lists are hinted at and then later debunked as intentional misinformation (including one that looked great and had Tom as Big Blue)... I have no idea what to believe anymore so all I can say for certain is that if Tom isn't put into some sort of movie after Smallville is over it's proof the suits that run the movie studios are all idiots.
The Fog didn't make its production budget in less than two weeks because it had an engaging story, because it didn't... It was a success because Tom has a very loyal and avid fanbase. If he can pull that many people into see a train wreck like that, imagine what he'd do with a real film.
And, in case anyone was wondering why, I've stopped posting links to CWTV.com's video section for several reasons. The biggest one is that I've had all sorts of problems with it. Another is that, even when their buggy video player does work, non-US residents are blocked from even seeing them. You'd think that as minimal as their online content is, they'd try harder to make sure what they do have works reliably.
If you still want to see them, probably better to go view them on Youtube. I know I had to resort to that a time or two myself....
Anyway, there's a new poll over Comics Alliance. They want to know who the hottest comic book hero is and Tom is right out in front. So, if you want to make it stays that way go HERE to vote!
Thanks to Serene for the link.
